About Melissa
Melissa Fireside is a small business owner, educator, and working mom. As a small business owner in Clackamas County and someone who is raising a young child, Melissa understands how policies at the county level impact our quality of life.
Nothing came easy to Melissa but her story and her triumphs make her what she is today: able to take on anyone or anything to stand up for what’s right. When Melissa’s father was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was only 8 years old, she learned first-hand how devastating physical and mental-health issues can be for a family. Melissa grew up fast, starting her first job at 15 and putting herself through school- and she didn’t stop until she earned her PhD.
The fight for quality mental health services and support for families is personal to Melissa. That’s why in addition to her work teaching and owning a small business in Clackamas County, Melissa has been an active member of our civic community, serving as a member of the Mental Health and Addiction Advisory Council and the County Compensation Board.
Melissa has been working daily to improve access to mental health services in our county, create more affordable housing opportunities, keep our communities safe, support small businesses, and improve our local economy.
